IUSA. What geeks we were. But the parties rocked. Let’s not forget her motherly affection when Myrna walked home drunk in the snow, demanded socks, and shivered “I’m so cold”. Courtney didn’t hesitate. Perhaps practice to be future house mom.

Senior Year. Varsity Basketball & Softball. We weren’t the best, but he definitely made us competitive. I complained about running A LOT. He promised me one day I would pay someone to help me exercise. He was right.

One of the world’s truly good guys. He died when I was only ten and it rocked my world. It was the first time I realized that life wasn’t a given. And that an Irish wake is one. big. party.

I work closely with her, but strangely never in person. She diligently sends me data every month so I can run my analysis reports. One of these days we’re going to perfect the process. She’s also my go-to web guru.

I’m blessed to be part of a small community group through my church. Deborah is the silent one, but not afraid to tell it like it is. She’s one of a handful I thank God for their friendship every day.

One of my very first friends after moving from NJ. She graciously sat next to me in Physical Science the first day. Lotsa favorite memories… football games, Mrs Brownell’s class, parties, AP Chemistry, dancing, TEC, powder puff, her Debut party.

A Grainger supplier. We reconnected when I was networking for jobs, and found he lived in Crystal Lake where we were moving. He introduced me to the Program Chair at MCC and graciously gave us a tour of the town.

The last guy I dated before my husband. God knows why I dated him more than once, let alone three months. He was many things, but above all cheap. He took me out for dinner at a carry-out Pizza Hut.

My youngest cousin on my dad’s side. I remember him as the cutest little thing. Now he’s about to graduate from high school. He’s going to IU where I graduated the year after he was born – man, I feel old.

A man of faith, and more than willing to share it with others. His witness inspired me to learn more about my faith, and I thank him for kick-starting our community group. God always answers prayers and he is proof.

I honestly don’t know him very well at all. But I do know – without a doubt – I can count on him for anything. His smiling face at church on Sundays reminds me that God has surrounded me with wonderful people.

Taping each other’s ankles before basketball games. Losing by just a few points. every. time. Learning how to French braid on her hair. Carpools. Parties. Student Council. More parties. Dances. Football games. More parties. Those were the good ole days.

My massage therapist. She literally has magical fingers, hands, elbows that relieve all the knots and tense muscles in my body. A monthly welcome respite from my otherwise crazy busy life. I look forward to going back regularly again soon.

Another miracle to remind me that a baby would be possible! Abbi is the spitting image of her dad. But seeing her dance on the coffee table and talking to her dog reminds me that she is her mother’s daughter.

There are a handful of people who were put in my life to teach me compassion. I thought Barb had it all. I was jealous, but found she struggled with the harsh realities of life as much as I did.

Fourth grade. Oh, how happy I was NOT to be in Sr. Theophane’s classroom! Mrs. McLaughlin was the polar opposite. A tiny lady you would gladly claim as your grandma. My clearest memory of her class was reciting multiplication tables.

Engineer, problem-solver, and consummate gentleman. My father-in-law appreciates a good Manhattan, good food, and good company. He loves being a grandpa and I’m thrilled we made that dream possible for him. As his only daughter-in-law I’m spoiled and love it.

Fear spread among girls when St. Viator went co-ed. The dean was known to slam boys against lockers. He was a teddy bear in disguise. Yet he raged mad at Christmas Ball when we sang “F*#% Mahoney” during Mony Mony.
