Hello Sweet Baby - Pregnancy & Birth Story { Hello You Books }

When my girlfriend Linda told me she was pregnant I was super excited. She and I shared our first pregnancy together, and had our boys only a few weeks apart under freaky-similar circumstances... both five weeks early, water bag broke at 2AM, emergency C-section. Weird, right? And now here she was expecting her second and I was bound and determined to help her document the journey!

Here it is! Isn't it yummy? If you'd like one just like it, email me and we'll make it happen.

[ 47/365 ] ..... Michele F.

I remember her pregnant belly when I first interviewed with Grainger. Little did I know we would become good friends. Amazing project manager and ultimate diplomat. The only person for whom I was both subordinate and boss – and still friends.

[ 46/365 ] ..... Steve C.

My ultimate teenage crush. I admired him from afar… the fantasies were better than any reality could be. I got in a car accident driving by his house. AP Calculus. I dreamed of solving his integral from head to toe.

[ 45/365 ] ..... Nisha, RN

She’s one of my allergy nurses who regularly pierces my skin with a sharp instrument all in the name of medicine. But in the end I’ll thank her because my head won’t be stuffy any longer. One of these days.

Class clown. And always in trouble. Always. Thinking back I honestly think he scared me. He was a jackass. But now a loving and caring husband, dad and teacher himself. Go figure! Would love to catch up at a reunion.

TEC 345, Senior year of HS. Dave was one of the Notre Dame boys that we ended up hanging out throughout the year. Sue and I went to their Senior prom and had a blast. Perhaps too much fun. Right?

IUSA. What geeks we were. But the parties rocked. Let’s not forget her motherly affection when Myrna walked home drunk in the snow, demanded socks, and shivered “I’m so cold”. Courtney didn’t hesitate. Perhaps practice to be future house mom.

[ 41/365 ] ..... Aunt Grace

One of my fondest childhood memories was going to Aunt Grace’s lake house. Swimming in inner tubes and under the raft. Putting on talent shows. To me she was the epitome of grace and loveliness. She loved us. Miss her.

Senior Year. Varsity Basketball & Softball. We weren’t the best, but he definitely made us competitive. I complained about running A LOT. He promised me one day I would pay someone to help me exercise. He was right.

Spiked Slurpees and bowling alleys. Softball. Everyone going to see Some Kind of Wonderful in Barrington. There was some kind of drama going on that night, but I can’t remember the circumstances. Such a fun time. Those were the days.

[ 37/365 ] ..... Great Uncle Mark

As kids we would say, “I have to take an Uncle Mark” because Grandma didn’t like that he used the word piss. As an adult he played a mean trombone and was a respected professor of music at DePaul University.

[ 36/365 ] ..... Uncle Dan

One of the world’s truly good guys. He died when I was only ten and it rocked my world. It was the first time I realized that life wasn’t a given. And that an Irish wake is one. big. party.

Freckles. First thing that comes to mind when I think of him from gradeschool. Oh, that and he and Monica would be the last two running playing jailbreak. He was smart, athletic, handsome (ok, cute back then) and super nice.

One of the most talented designers, and a nice guy to boot. We worked on a couple Grainger catalog covers together. I was always excited when I had the budget to hire him because I knew my project would rock.

I work closely with her, but strangely never in person. She diligently sends me data every month so I can run my analysis reports. One of these days we’re going to perfect the process. She’s also my go-to web guru.

I’m blessed to be part of a small community group through my church. Deborah is the silent one, but not afraid to tell it like it is. She’s one of a handful I thank God for their friendship every day.

[ 29/365 ] ..... Cheap Eddie

The last guy I dated before my husband. God knows why I dated him more than once, let alone three months. He was many things, but above all cheap. He took me out for dinner at a carry-out Pizza Hut.

[ 22/ 265 ] ..... Abbi O.

Another miracle to remind me that a baby would be possible! Abbi is the spitting image of her dad. But seeing her dance on the coffee table and talking to her dog reminds me that she is her mother’s daughter.

There are a handful of people who were put in my life to teach me compassion. I thought Barb had it all. I was jealous, but found she struggled with the harsh realities of life as much as I did.

[ 20/265 ] ..... Mrs. McLaughlin

Fourth grade. Oh, how happy I was NOT to be in Sr. Theophane’s classroom! Mrs. McLaughlin was the polar opposite. A tiny lady you would gladly claim as your grandma. My clearest memory of her class was reciting multiplication tables.

Engineer, problem-solver, and consummate gentleman. My father-in-law appreciates a good Manhattan, good food, and good company. He loves being a grandpa and I’m thrilled we made that dream possible for him. As his only daughter-in-law I’m spoiled and love it.

[ 18/365 ] ..... Mr. Mahoney

Fear spread among girls when St. Viator went co-ed. The dean was known to slam boys against lockers. He was a teddy bear in disguise. Yet he raged mad at Christmas Ball when we sang “F*#% Mahoney” during Mony Mony.

Sleepovers. Friendship bracelets. Atari. Riding bikes. Barclay softball. Swimming in my backyard. Passing thick notes through the slots of our lockers. Parties. Boys. I was so sad to move away from it all and from my tween & teen BFF.
